  • Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) and UN Messenger of Peace, is a world-renowned ethologist and activist inspiring greater understanding and action on behalf of the natural world.
  • Dr. Jane Goodall’s pioneering study of wild chimpanzees began over 60 years ago in Tanzania and revolutionised how we think about both chimpanzees and ourselves.
  • The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is a global community conservation organisation founded by Dr. Goodall; the first JGI entity was established in 1977. By protecting chimpanzees and inspiring action to conserve the natural world we all share, we improve the lives of people, animals and the environment. Together, we aim to ‘Inspire hope through action’.
  • Established in 2013, JGI Global’s (JGIG) distinctive role is to amplify the collective impact of the JGI network. There are 27 official JGI members across five continents, and the network also includes field offices, research stations in Africa, and partner offices delivering JGI projects and co-ordinating the Roots & Shoots programme locally.
  • The Jane Goodall Institute Global’s mission is to support wildlife research, education and conservation. JGIG promotes informed and compassionate action to improve the environment shared by all Earth’s living creatures.
